Reportage Club events in Doc Media Month

The Reportage Club is a simple concept……..John Coster interviews guests about documentary media related subjects in front of an audience.

Here are the guests and themes for Reportage Club events throughout November’s Doc Media Month:

Wednesday 5th November – Brahmpreet GulatiVoices 4 Change discusses the perception of young people in the media.

Monday 10thBeth Walsh, freelance photographer.

Wednesday 12thKeith Perch, former South Wales Echo, Derby Telegraph and Leicester Mercury Editor. Now regional press representative on the board of the new Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso.)

Saturday 15thDodge Billingsley, Combat Films & Research – He has produced and directed many documentary films and won both the prestigious Rory Peck and Royal Television Society awards for Best Feature for the film House of War. In 2013, the Leicester Docfilm Festival hosted the UK premiere of his documentary Unfortunate Brothers: Korea’s Reunification Dilemma. We will also discuss his latest book Fangs of the Lone Wolf: Chechen Tactics in the Russian-Chechen Wars 1994-2009.

Wednesday 19thRupal Rajani, BBC Radio Leicester presenter.

Friday 21st – to mark UN World Television Day the Doc Media Centre will host Isreali & Palestinian representatives of the One Voice Movement to discuss the real issues around the two-state solution.

Wednesday 26th – Conflict Reportage over the last 100 years. My guests will include Dr Paul Reilly, University of Leicester – his research focuses primarily on online political communication, with a specific interest in how social media is used to promote better community relations in divided societies. 

All the Reportage Club events are 6pm-8pm, free to attend and will take place in the Doc Media Centre, 3 Shires Lane, Highcross, LE1 4AN.
